It was not a promising start. The drumming of rain on my bedroom roof suggested I might just as well stay where I was, all snug on my warm padded duvet which my humans had given me when I was quite young. I love it I have had it since I was in my dog teens, it was given to me after I had learned to stopped eating a few of the early models.
There was no point anyway in trying to raise any enthusiasm from my bearded one for a walk in this weather, a lie-in seemed appropriate and so I slept on.
It was a loud rumbling noise from the sky that woke and concerned me. I got up and found my bearded one next door in his bed hiding under his duvet. I think he was pretending I wasn’t there, I think he knew that if it had been accessible, my tongue was going to enter his ear.
In the event, we all got up, rather later than usual but the rain did not abate, it was relentless. I did venture out of my long kennel, on my own, I found it rather necessary for a quick exercise of my left back leg for a call of nature but I quickly returned to my warm dry long kennel. I was rewarded with a bonio and a few tiny scrappy biscuits that barely covered the bottom of my rather small (in my opinion) eating bowl. They meanwhile were tucking into what appeared to be a feast.
My bearded one lit a fire – we have a black stove thingy in my long kennel and this makes it very cozy on days like this. See my photo for today.
Just like yesterday, no sooner had it got all warm and cozy inside my long kennel, It stopped raining! Out we went, the whole family, that is me, my bearded one and my long haired one.
We walked for half a mile along the tow path and discovered Tescos ( I remember meeting Mr Tesco on one of our recent trips I went into his shop you may remember, I wrote about it – just loved it – full of food it was). Anyway, my long haired one seemed pleased to have found it and we walked back towards my long kennel but as we were about to pass by the Navigation house we all took cover inside the open door, it had started to rain again They had lunch. I got nothing.
After all this exertion, I slept the afternoon away in front of the fire. Mike and Barbie whose long kennel is Micky Jay are coming to eat supper with us this evening.
I hope my diary is more exciting tomorrow.

Hi Douglas –
Daddy seems to have solved the problem and I can now reply to your emails.
I like the look of that fire – my mummy and daddy are far too mean to light one yet (or ever, for that matter). Still, I am quite comfy and warm as I have an electric blanket in my favourite spot- see the photo.
Hope the weather improves for you!
Love
Millie
