Douglas Diary Autumn Hols
1st October 2019
Bulletin #3
This is Tuesday 1st October 6 days since the accident 5 days since the operation and today Jan shuffled 50 yards with crutches and passed all other mobility tests from Physios and has therefore been dismissed from the hospital! Tomorrow she has an ambulance ride to Oxford to stay with her sister who has very kindly made available a ground floor bed and facilities. She lives in a very nice bungalow in a Little Cotswold village. The doctors reckon it will be a month before she can fly back to Spain. The NHS has been outstanding in their speedy and careful attention. Jan even had a visit to a hairdresser today. The food has been very good although Jan’s appetite has hardly matched the fare. She is easily tired of course her little body has been through a lot of trauma this last week but sh is full of good spirits as usual.
It is very sad that circumstances are such that Jan and I have to be living separately for a few more weeks, we have not done this before! Douglas has to return to Spain as do I. There are some logistical problems that we are solving with the generous help of many friends and relatives. I am proposing to move Albert (aka long kennel) tomorrow afternoon for a one and half day cruise to home base at King’s Bromley. I have my eldest grandson Jonathan for crew and my eldest son, his father James is moving cars for us. Not only this, he is going to assist me with the drive to Moclinejo. We leave next Tuesday. I will provide more Bulletins as things develop.
Best wishes
Andrew
