Stone – Etruria
Well, I slept like a dog, I must have walked miles yesterday, my long haired one measured over 10,000 steps on her mobile device, I was with her all the way and by my reckoning with my short hairy legs and tendency to take frequent detours I was going on at least 50,000 steps, probably more. I was tired in fact my bearded one had to wake me up this morning. Mind you it was only seven o,clock.
That wasn’t much of a park that we moored by last night, it was good enough for purpose when I took my bearded one for an exploration. Interestingly there was a very large Marks and Spencer food store hidden just behind the trees. I am glad that we didn’t try and moor in the town though because most of the available space appeared to be, as my bearded one expected, full and mostly residential livaboards.
Anyway today first thing we had eight locks in two flights of four as we left Stone. They were not the easiest and my long haired one found some of the gates quite heavy (up to 2000 kilos each) despite my help. But the sun was shining I told her.
A very pleasant cruise followed it was glorious weather and then we met five locks to take us up through Stoke on Trent. There was just enough traffic for exchanges of lock and we arrived at Etruria in sunshine ahead of schedule at 3:30.
Do you like my new all in one bra as in my photo today? Does my bum look big in it? I am not sure I like the colour but my pets insist that I wear it – it is a buoyancy aid and there is a handle to lift me up in an emergency. There was nearly one yesterday. I am not quite as agile as I used to be not now that I am nearly as old as him.
