Day 8 of our voyage weather beautiful. Runcorn – Lymm. Bridgewater canal no locks today. 17 miles now total of 87 miles 56 locks and 4 tunnels.
We had a good result last night. As I reported, we had a dramatic happening in downtown Runcorn and so it was with some relief that we were offered a safe haven at The Bridgewater Boat Club FOC by a very nice gentleman.
Here, apart from being in a gated safe mooring, we were able to hook up to mains electricity and this seemed to please my long haired one very much because she could do a lot of washing. The weather was so pleasant that drying their clothes was no problem. My bearded one took advantage of the facilities and scrubbed the roof of my long kennel. It now looks very smart.
Change of crew: Delivery of Maureen and David and collection of Rhylva all went smoothly thanks to Virgin Rail from Runcorn railway station.
At 13:00 we departed towards Manchester on the second leg of our voyage, our destination Liverpool.
There were no locks at all today on our cruis, this equals no walks! However, it is fair to say that I had a good time this morning as we were sort of hanging about in Runcorn and whilst the washing was going on I took my bearded one for his walk to play ball with him. Also, I accompanied them on urban walkabouts for quite a long time when they went provisioning and so I was tired.
Lunch break was liquid and mid afternoon but at a convenient time and place and called London Bridge. See photo. It is no good looking for me, I am under the table, that’s where the bearded one is headed.
He seemed very thirsty but I suppose standing at the back of my long kennel is pretty exhausting for him poor chap. Dragons Fire? That is what ’twas called.
The Bridgewater Canal is quite wide (just as well I thought guiding him on the stern deck ) but it was a safe and pretty cruise to our overnight stop at Lymm. Here they opened the gin!
What an amazing place mostly pubs, and restaurants, all full. The shops mostly solicitors. All the pubs and restaurants were full. They took me with them and I sat under their table.
