This is our penultimate day in my long kennel for a while as it is due back at King’s Bromley tomorrow, where it is looked after. Today we woke to grey skies but it was still warm and a little humid. We had a very short journey of maybe an hour through what must be one of the prettiest parts of Staffordshire. We left the Staffordshire and Worcestershire canal just beyond Tixall Wide at Great Haywood Junction and moved onto The Trent and Mersey. Down a lock Anf just here is the location of Shugborough Hall. This is the family seat of the Anson family, Earls of Lichfield. Now owned by The National Trust. We went to visit this lovely estate, this meant an awful lot of walking for me, I was not allowed in the house but didn’t want to go inside anyway. They had a very nice lunch in a cafe in the grounds, I sat under their table as usual. After lunch they all went painting again, that is until it rained, this caught them a bit by surprise. I was resting after my extensive walk whilst my bearded one tried in vain to repair an inverter, concluding after an hour of frustration that it was an expired inverter. No more TV then – that did not last long! I expect tonight they will drink wine and play rumikup. My photo today is Shugborough Hall.
Love Douglas
Sorry you can’t go in Douglas – but if you tell your owners that you can just nip in to see Lord Lichfield’s apartments & photos it would be worth it!
We were there this month on Jenny Wren!
Sounds like you’ve had a very interesting journey this time if a little wet!
Lila has settled down now without Raffles & can now be left with a new dog sitter – so we can travel again!
Spain in July with Katie also!
Speak soon,
Jan, Lawson & Lila xx
