I am under a bit of pressure from my bearded one aka Andrew, my controller, he says it is time to start to write this diary – again. He tells me that there are hundreds of my fans out there just waiting for news of my latest adventures.
Well, to tell you the truth, what it is all about really is that he, that is my bearded one, is getting a little old and forgetful. All the signs are that we are about to embark on a four week journey in my long kennel aka Albert He needs me to record this as there are also signs that he is most likely to forget where he has been.
We start in a couple of days after he and my long haired one aka Jan my favorite controller by the way, have got my long kennel all ready for departure, I have a suspicion where we are going and am really quite excited. I will let you know in my next entry.
In the mean time, I am starting this holiday with a picture – a selfie in case you have forgotten me. Love Douglas

Dear Douglas:
I am eagerly awaiting stories of your adventures.
Much love,
Nancy
Nancy I miss you thank you for your message, hope you are busy painting and writing. My two legged ones paint a lot and will be doing more over the next weeks, can’t understand why, it is much more fun chasing rabbits. Love Douglas x
Happy that you all arrived safely; have a wonderful trip?
With love, Anne Keith and Blanca xx
Dear Blanca and your grownups mine send their love and I will be letting you know how we get on. It was a nice journey getting this far although I had a tummy upset just as we boarded that huge kennel, a bit tricky but all is well now. Love Douglas x
Ah, Douglas….my dear old friend ( not so much of the “old” I hear you woof)….Lesley and I are very much looking forward to joining you all to help you commence your heroic voyage towards an unpronounceable Welsh canal which, I understand is very beautiful.
We are hoping the weather is set fair and will see you as close as possible to midday on Wednesday.
Lots of love
Peter

Peter my dear friend, I am so looking forward to your visit and lots of walks with you and Leslie. I will help at the locks as usual I have been told to keep an eye on you. We are on our way to my long kennel today and will make sure it is all ready for you on Wednesday. Love Douglas x
Good to hear from you Dougie and very jealous of your trip up the Llangollen. Of course, I have done it quite a few times as an experienced long kennel spaniel but miss it greatly now my two two legged ones have been and gone and sold ours. Am about to go to my usual hotel in blackheath as my two are off to Venice for a week. Explained I could not go as I would get too wet. Don’t quite understand that comment. Anyway if you are anywhere near London or the south let me know and I will try and pedsuade the two legged ones to bring me over to rub noses etc with you again. Cheers mate and good sniffing love Josh
Josh my old mate, they are mean not taking you to Venice, mine didn’t take me either when they last went. They go there lots and paint, can’t see the fun in that myself, there are apparently no rabbits, trees or much grass just lots of water, I know you like that. Anyway I will let you know how I get on in Wales. Mine send their love to yours and hope to catch up soon.
Love Douglas
Yay, Douglas, you are back!
We are looking forward to reading your news. It was fun playing in the garden with you yesterday. May see you in a couple of weeks.
Love
Bumble and Trooper
Dear Bumble and Trooper I do hope I will share with you in my long kennel as planned in a couple of weeks. It was a lovely day yesterday and do thank your NoNos human for all his help. We all watched his Poppy film for the seventh ( l can’t count above seven it might have been more) time this morning before I took my bearded one out for his walk.
Love Douglas x
Dear Douglas & Controllers,
Enjoy your cruise on Albert. We are off to Funchal in about three hours time for a ten day break, probably our last holiday abroad. We hope to see you all before you return to Malaga.
Much love,
Malc & Jen
Dear Malc and Jen looking forward to seeing you on your return. We will catch up at the end of May in mean time have a fab holiday
Love Douglas
Douglas –
It was good to see you on Saturday (I suppose). Anyway, you didn’t stay very long, which was a relief.
My mummy and daddy say they are looking forward to reading about your adventures. I don’t like the thought of all that water . . .
Love and scratches from
Millie – she who is now a real star, having had her own column in a national newspaper and don’t you forget it –
BD knows that nose! Sending his and our best wishes for a safe and rabbit rich vacation. Looking forward to reading about all your adventures, all without mishaps we hope!
Oh that adorable nose, would recognise it anywhere. How exciting for you all, do hope the weather is kind to you. You qre going north and we are going south West, what a pity, but we will see you in Whitstable. When we can all get our paints out. You and Mike will be going exploring, no doubt as neither of you have a paint box ? we are moored at Bulls Bridge, I think you have been there before. Tomorrow we will be at Brentford ready for our big adventure on the Thames, it’s scary, love and links and kisses for the controllers
Really looking forward to hearing about your adventures
