Douglas Diary Sunday 6th April 2014 It is still raining on and off and to day we are turning towards the south still on the Staffs and Worcester canal cruising through Wolverhampton. It is surprisingly pretty on the canal side it is not raining as we cruise. At one lock, I met a puppy supposedly from the Labrador tribe (I think he wasn’t pure but I didn’t say anything) I taught him a few things about health and safety at locks, showed him how to safely play with a stick and we ran about a bit and after a lot of walking by lunch time, I was quite exhausted. This had been the plan I now understand because they all left me to guard the long kennels while they go off and visit Mr Carvery at Oddfellows Hall. They were gone quite a long time and when they came back, there was a small parcel of steak bits for me, rib eye medium rare, just as I like it! After lunch we cruised a little further to another pub called The Mermaid. This is a good overnight mooring as they have very good stuff called Banks’ which my bearded one likes and also a large car park. This is good because we are expecting a visit from my bearded one’s son Noah who is en route across country for his work. When he does arrive, after supper, he and my bearded one disappear to the Mermaid and they come back quite late. Sent from my IPad x

Hello Douglas –
I am glad to catch up with you and what you re doing. You seem to have got into a few scrapes one way or another. I’m so sorry you didn’t manage to catch the fox, by the way. I saw ‘Fockus’ (which as you know is the name for ur fox) the other day – he was looking very fit and had a lovely bushy tail. I thought of you and how much you would have liked to chase him.
I have had a few busy nights recently, making sure that the mice around here behave themselves. I’m doing quite well catching them and get two or three a week. But I don’t like the taste of them so just leave them around as they are for Mummy and Daddy to find in the morning.
Otherwise I’ve been catching up on my sleep. I was annoyed with Mummy and Daddy the other day when they went to Brighton and got back so late that my supper was really delayed – I nearly died of hunger (or at least that is what I told them to make them realise they shouldn’t do it again).
Love and kisses
Millie
