Douglas Diary Thursday 3rd April 2014 It is so pretty around here at Shugborough we were in no hurry to leave and after breakfast, we went for some mid morning refreshment in a little lock side restaurant, I was allowed in but there was no refreshment for me, just a bonio that the nice owner gave me. Then it was back to our long kennels and off. We stopped to fill up our water tanks, this seemed to take ages. I had the opportunity to talk with a cat. We then left the Trent and Mersey and joined the Staffordshire and Worcestershire canal which was heading west. It started to rain and everywhere was getting muddy. This was not good news as coincidentally I, on walking between two locks, got the essence of fox. Now those of you who know me well will know that this is an addiction I suffer from, rather like crack cocaine I am told in some humans. Anyway I lost my self control and the upshot is that I disappeared into a muddy field in search of the source, twice! I can tell you that my long haired one was not pleased with me and I had a fairly brutal wash before I was allowed back on my long kennel. We stopped for an overnight in the country. Our friends joined us for supper on board and they played Rummikub as I slept under the table. Sent from my IPad x
