Douglas Diary Monday 9th May 2016 (Day 20)
My long kennel refused to start this morning which is a worry. It is the third time this has happened. The long kennel next door did have a very knowledgable and helpful human on board. He said he thought that we have a dirty lift pump and we are getting diesel feed-back! This is all a bit beyond me. Anyway, let me tell you, I had a most interesting day. I have never ever been in a super market before, loved it! Here is the story: my long haired one had gone provisioning which as you know she likes to do. There was a huge shop about two hundred yards away around a corner from where we were moored in Ellesmere. I had been told to stay where I was sitting on the tow path watching my bearded one with his mechanic friend with both their heads down my engine. Well, after about 15 minutes of this I got really bored and thought I would sneak off and find my long haired one. I didn’t tell anyone, and they weren’t watching. Well if you have never been to a supermarket O Boy you must go! It is just full of rows and rows of food! Anyway there I was going up and down these aisles looking for my long haired one and incidentally all this lovely food, dodging lots of trolleys when a very nice gentleman in a white coat came and spoke nicely to me. He gently took me by the collar and attached a lead to me and took me for a walk. How kind I thought, nice man ‘ thought it must be my birthday or something. Anyway I never found my long haired one but I did eventually show my long kennel to the nice gentleman ( I think he was Mr Tesco as this was written on his white coat) he gave me back to my bearded one who did not appear to have missed me at all.
We left Ellesmere and had a really lovely cruise in the sunshine for about four hours to Whitchurch. On the way we saw lots of interesting things including a duck that landed on my roof, we gave it a ride for quite a long way, she seemed to like walking up and down I thought she was showing off. Unfortunately I couldn’t get a picture and I saw a horse pulling a cart. I wanted to attach this photo but insufficient wifi my bearded one says. Maybe I will add this later but just in case … Sorry about that Love Douglas. X
