Douglas Diary 17th August 2014
I did get some T-bone but not a lot. Both the bearded ones chose to have a whole one each and I got some of the bits they didn’t fancy plus a couple of left over chips. I don’t want to appear ungrateful, I enjoyed my share very much.
My bearded one was up very early, 06:00 it was when I took him for his walk. We have planned an early departure after our rather prolonged 48 hour stay at the Black Lion at Consall Forge. It is a very dog friendly pub and I know we all recommend it.
We are off to Leek today or at least we are going to travel the branch of the Caldon Canal that stops just short of the town. This means we turn around and to do this we have to travel now nearly to Froghall or the end of this branch. It is all so peaceful and Rural. The weather has turned rather cool and windy, the cruise to Leek was very pretty, the canal was very shallow. I sat on the back helping my bearded ones as they took turns at the helm. When we arrived at the end of the canal there was nothing, no buildings, no pub or anything. There was another boat with some of my kind on board from the jack Russell tribe. I played with them and took my long haired and my bearded one for a lovely walk – I ran about like a lunatic puppy, I’m not sure what she has put in my food!
