Drama at Santander
Well, something is up. I have just spent a couple of days most of the time in my short kennel, aka “Yeti”, As I write this, I am on that very large kennel aka “Baie de Seine” with lots of friends on the sea and of course on my way to England. I think for an adventure on my own long kennel aka “Albert” in a few days time. I will report later when I know what is happening..
Meanwhile however, today I have to report an incident at the port of Santander. Nearly a disaster.
When we arrived at the Port, with barely an hour to spare after two days of travel, I wasn’t allowed to board the very large kennel because my new passport was allegedly “out of order”! My good friend Gemma (she is my nice vet’ in Malaga) because my old passport was now full had transcribed the date of my chip (I have one on my shoulder like all good dogs) into a new passport. The date was correctly re-written as 12/06/09 ( I was chipped when I was very young, just three months old). However, the 12, but only with a degree of paranoia, could possibly look like it had been altered from a 6 and although it hadn’t and it did correctly match the chip on my shoulder and the number and date on my old passport and it was covered in plastic to be tamper proof, our little Miss Jobsworth with her lively imagination, her myopic vision and her border customs uniform seemed pleased to have an excuse to send me to visit a vet’ in Santander for a new passport! This, as you can imagine attracted some displeasure and cost my bearded one and my long haired one a lot of stress and over 100 euros. I now have three passports!
This interlude meant I did not get the new toy to play with, a plastic fish I had been eyeing up. We left the vet’ in a bit of a hurry, re-visited Miss Jobsworth, exchanged greetings, collected our boarding passes and trundled up the ramp of the great big kennel just in time as the hooter hooted, the anchor weighed and we were on our way to Portsmouth.
Today’s photo, I took a long range selfie of me on my own play deck on the very large kennel. Some will note my new haircut specially for my holiday.

How great to hear from you and the start of a new adventure. Well you have started well, lets hope that is not going to set the tone of this holiday! Your long haired one must have been a little upset by Miss Jobsworth, especially being minus 100 euros at the start of the holiday. We are still in Bristol and do hope to see you but haven’t got a clue where or when. Cheers, the red wine is out
Lila and Wybrow sympathise. They say it’s SO hard being a dog sometimes 🙁
Hi Douglas
And so your adventure gets off with a bang!
At least it ended well.
Much love,
Nancy
Great to hear you are back. I’m thinking it must be very warm in your long kennel.
Next week we shall be on a journey to Scotland and bak here on the 8th. We shall hopefully be able to keep up with your adventures providing my son is connected to electricity! Enjoy yourselves.
