Day 3 Atherstone – Ansty.
The rain has stopped I am pleased to say, it is another lovely morning and as I was very tired after yesterday’s exertion in the rain, I let my bearded one sleep in until 07:15 before taking him for his walk. By the way, last night they left me in charge of the long kennel and went to The Red Lion Hotel for supper. I got Chappie and biscuits – again. Another thing, I forgot to mention yesterday, during a dry spell around midday we travelled through a working boat rally at Alvecote Marina which was fun and this is my first photo. The second photo is of The Greyhound pub where we stopped for lunchtime refreshment today at Hawkesbury Junction where we left The Coventry Canal and joined The Oxford Canal on our way to Rugby. This is where we will have a change of crew. Tonight we are staying in Ansty, a pretty village with one pub called The Rose and Castle. Unfortunately my bearded one may have upset them when he was told that dogs were not allowed inside. He said that he only supports dog friendly establishments and left. The trouble is my long haired one and Olaf and Jette returned and booked a table. It looks like I will be guarding the long kennel again and my bearded one will be joining them in disguise. Dear Douglas, so pleased to see that you are now well into your late summer adventure. I am sorry that you appear to be a rain maker, it follows you quite a lot. But you should be in for some better weather according to Country file, let’s hope so. Great news about the itching, it must have been such a distraction, now you can concentrate on the finer things in life. Our wifi has been gobbled up again. And only one week into our monthly contract. I spent half an hour on the phone arguing with a person in India yesterday, a very polite person but in the end got nada.
So I am having to use my phone to read about your adventure. It is going to be very difficult to get to you by public transport, they seem to want us to go to Bristol, then London then Oxford. Taking three hours. . The best option would be by car, we can get one of those from Trowbridge. But where would we meet you? And how would we get back to our car? Can you organise a committee meeting with your minders to see if it is doable. Thinking caps need to be on I think. Do hope we can sort something out, much love as ever, xxx
This appears difficult indeed. I have had a word with my staff and they really need some dates to toss around. Unfortunately they are on a bit of a schedule as we are all returning to Spain around 22nd and my long kennel will be going into mothballs whatever that means around 20th. In between time they are meeting with relies in Banbury for a few days probably in five days time then after this they are starting their return journey. To KB. This means we will be increasing the distance between us. It does seem as if I may have to wait until you come and see me in Spain unless you can think of another solution around the middle of September?
