Day 35 Newark on Trent.
I am very excited today, my friend Josh is coming to see me, Josh lives in Greenwich and is from the Spaniel tribe. Josh used to have a long kennel like mine. His owners Jackie and Brendan are friends of my owners.
Today, we say goodbye to Mike who has been with us for the past week on our journey from Yorkshire, he has been an enormous help to my bearded one.
Well, it does seem as though this might well be our 6th day of summer, it is mostly sunny although rather windy, a little cool but dry.
Josh’s owners arrived at about midday and they have a friend called Sarah who lives here in Newark who joined us and so we all climbed aboard my long kennel for a cruise out to lunch (for them) and then back to the marina.
We travelled for over two hours, against a strong wind and current to arrive at a delightful restaurant just a few miles away called The Boathouse in a place called Farndon. From all accounts, (I heard them talking) they had a lovely meal. Josh and I got a few scraps and a piece of unwanted bread.
As there is a very large lock in the centre of Newark through which we have to pass before 4:45, we had to start back fairly sharply after lunch but fortunately the wind and current were helping us and we got through in good time.
Sarah invited them to her house for supper but not me, this is only because I wanted to have a rest and guard the long kennel, anyway, I already had my Chappie and biscuits. Josh is a bit younger than me and has a lot of energy.
My photos today: the River and castle and bridge in the centre of Newark. Me playing ball in the park with my bearded one, he likes that.
