My very smart kennel

My word we are looking smart. My carers have been working very hard over the last couple of days. We are staying at Kings Bromley getting ready for our friends to arrive, they took advantage of the Summer (Tuesday and Wednesday) to give my long kennel a rather overdue makeover. Inside all my woodwork has been cleaned, polished or varnished. All carpet and upholstery has been vacuumed, all windows now sparkle. Outside, it has been washed and polished, my woodwork varnished, my gunnels and bits have been refreshed in Signal red, my decks where needed in Oxford blue and stern flashing restored in cream. The broken zip on my Cratch cover has been repaired. All systems are now go. I of course supervised much of this work and did add my paw prints to an area of the Oxford blue, he did not seem pleased.

I am really enjoying my stay at Kings Bromley, we are in a lovely gated park, lots of great walking. I am on good terms with the other canines and even some of the felines. I don’t even bother to chase the ducks any more – much. I have the office well trained. I visit each morning and receive a biscuit. This is a good thing as my daily Bonio from my carers seems to have dried up or been overlooked.

Tonight we collect our friends Olaf and Jette who are flying in from Denmark to East Midlands Airport, this is about 40 minutes away in my short kennel (aka Yeti). We hope to be starting our journey towards Oxford tomorrow.

My photo today is one of the picnic areas near our mooring.

Love Douglas

I’m so glad they fixed the zip on your cratch cover – that can be both embarrassing and painful.

    Hi Douglas
Am so happy to hear that your long kennel has been cleaned and polished and now meets your high standards. For a dog as special as you details can be important.
    Lots of love,
    Nancy

So good to read all is going well for you and your owners Douglas: you seem to have them well trained and, perhaps could refer to them in future as The Staff? Seems to me you have an excellent cook, cleaner, handyman and boat crew … Sorry to hear about your troubles at Santander – but glad The Staff managed to resolve everything before the ferry-kennel sailed! I’ll be looking out for more news of your adventures if my Mum can stop painting long enough to check out your blog. She’s been a bit obsessed with grapevines for over a week now and even my Dad has had to enquire if there was any chance of supper before it gets dark. I am going to have to make more effort to train her; any tips? Bye for now, safe travels. BD

Well we never ! off again and no warning to us. Our Captain was heard muttering something about his SOS for picadilly being ignored and the jar nearly empty ! Meanwhile a little visitor has arrived on our doorstep – left on the hill – very thin – we are told it is a distant cousin in the small podenco clan……..captain has called him ‘Billy’ and is going to try and find a home so if you hear of anywhere we would be glad as he is eating all our food ! You can see him here https://youtu.be/POiT3Nbayi0 Please take him someone …….actually we are quite fond of him and he looks the same as ‘Tilly’ but much thinner………
Captain says are you heading east or west from oxford ?

Hi gang – your master is such an easy touch and I am sure the word is out there that there is a home. All very laudable. We will be back at end of September I will remind my long haired one about the Picallily
