Douglas Diary Tuesday 29th April 2014 Curdworth to Kings Bromley
I reported last night that we had moored my long kennel outside a house called the White Horse, that is what my bearded one had told me as he scrutinised the map prior to our arrival. As it happens either he did not know where he was or this has changed its name, more aptly to The Dog and Doublet. Anyway, we supped there last night, I got some steak that a kind lady gave me and two sausages. My bearded one kept them which I thought very mean but he had only saved them and he gave them to me for my breakfast this morning. Talking of food, one of my favourite subjects, that stuff the nice vet sold my bearded one in Stratford for £86 is rubbish. ‘Saw him coming I reckon, I have been ever so ever so hungry ever since I have been on this diet that I conclude it contains no beneficial nourishment whatsoever. I further deduce that it was designed that way to “rest” my tummy. That and tiddly whiskers cat ugh biscuits, well, sod that for a game of soldiers, that’s what I say and I told him.
We are still the best of friends, he has put me back onto a regular diet now except for the halal whiskers and I am getting lots of exercise with his friend Andrew who is very adept at locking. Today we had a lovely run through with about twelve locks and as many miles. We stopped for lunch at Fradley Junction, a house called The Swan for a short while – see Photo – and after about 7 hours travel today we arrived at our home base of Kings Bromley. My bearded one and his friend are busy cleaning my kennel and packing up as we are leaving in the morning. The sun is shining and it is really warm for the first time this week.
I hope you have enjoyed sharing this week with me. I might not write tomorrow as we will be on a train or in a car for most of the day going back to Hawkhurst but I will write again soon. I am looking forward to seeing my long haired one and their daughter Rachel or Mummy as she is called and her little humans.
The best news this week is that Rachel or Mummy has had all clear results from her further tests. Love Douglas X
