Douglas Diary Tuesday 17th May 2016 (Day 28) Well good morning everybody, nobody has written to me for days now. Just thought I would mention it! My long haired one bought me a packet of my favourite treats yesterday called dental sticks. My bearded one gives me half a one every morning after I have taken him for his walk and before he gives me my Bonio which passes for my breakfast. I have a ration of one packet a week (7 in a pack). Well it wasn’t my fault, she hadn’t put the opened packet away very securely (I had half a stick yesterday), they were on a nose high shelf just hanging a bit over the edge, and every time I passed I couldn’t help brushing against it and hearing it rustle. It is just possible they fell onto the floor next to my food bowl. Anyway, I think my teeth must have needed it – I ate the lot, six and a half. She was very cross with me and I wasn’t allowed any breakfast. I kept myself a bit to myself as we cruised just for a short while, no eye contact. Then we arrived at Tixall lock, a pretty cottage. They stopped for a paint. I slept under a tree in the long grass next to her. (See photo). One of my favourite things. I think I am forgiven. We cruised gently on through Tixall wide to one of my favourite moorings at Shugborough Hall. I took my long haired one for a lovely walk in the woods before supper ( my first food of the day). We stayed here for the night. Love Douglas

Well we envy you your travels but think your bearded and hairys are meanies at heart – no such restrictions here – we are treated like the princes and princesses we are – we even have our own spoon but Captain has to use it for us – we never sit under the table – there is no room anyway – and we are often tucking in to something he calls ‘chicabiddy’ which is cooked slowly in a cooker donated by some painters, whatever they are – it takes all day but we can make it disappear in five gulps. Just been loose on the mountain, lots of sniffing – rabbits, wild boar and lots of tics which have the advantage ‘cos we can’t eat them. Anyway, despite the prison routine on your convict ship you are looking well so it can’t be all bad.
Hi bros you be careful up in those hills there are frightening things up there. I am glad your Captain is looking after you so he should we are a very special breed I hope big Fergieis behaving and little Tillie. I am glad all your foster friends found nice homes. I like my Chappie

Hello Douglas. We have been having wonderful weather and I be not had much time for reading. This morning is dull and overcast and so I’m catching up with your diary. You sound as if you are having a wonderful time. I loved reading about your walk with Mr Tesco! More recently too your treat rationing. No such rationing here but the food here belongs to a cat called Minnie. I think you would likevhwt grub but I’m not sure if you two would get along but you never know. Please tell your long hairedvone and your bearded one that David and Carol are asking for them. Xxx
How lovely to hear from you Carol and David I am glad you have been having wonderful weather, we have had some of it but I have had a lovely time with my long kennel travelling to Wales, unfortunately I can’t get it to come to see you in Scotland. I would like it if you came to Spain to see me. I have another house now, it is an addition would like you to see it. Plenty of room.
Lots of love Douglas xx
Hi Douglas. I’m surprised to see I’m ‘Anonymous’. Computers are beyond me at times!
We would love to visit you in Spain and I would love to post you pictures of our lovely garden.
Of course, we can’t take credit for it as it was all the work of the previous owner. You would love it as there’s lots of room to run around in. Just think you will be going home soon to guaranteed sunshine. I really admire you. You are such a handsome boy and your diary tales make us smile. Love Carol and David xxx
