Day 20 repairs at Accrington, going nowhere!
O dear, we are in Accrington in a boat yard. Very comfortable in my long kennel but we are not moving! My long kennel is broken and being repaired by a man called Steve. Apparently, during a routine maintenance of filter changes, he discovered that we had some broken engine mounts. As we have a long way to go on our holiday and we are a long way from my long kennel’s home base, it seems prudent to repair these mount things as, according to Steve, the engine could drop off altogether and this would be a very expensive disaster! This repair may take three days. Accordingly, we now have a car for transport and we will be continuing our exploration by this means for the time being.
Today we went into Skipton. We hope still that we will visit it in my long kennel but today we went by car, we walked for miles and visited a reasonably dog friendly pub for lunch, we sat outside under a tarpaulin with heaters while it rained. We enjoyed the town very much, did quite a lot of shopping, torch for my bearded one and camera for my long haired one and then we went to a nearby village which was really beautiful. It was called Grassington. We saw the famed waterfalls and for this part of our day it was not raining.
We returned to Albert to discover that Steve had the engine hanging on straps, the gearbox and all connecting pipes separated the better for him to get at the nuts and bolts. He was indeed struggling and his language was quite colourful,.
It was at 8:00 pm when he announced that he had managed the major problems and was confident that he would be finished tomorrow. This was indeed a bonus, my owners were very pleased and gave him another cup of tea.ô
My photos today are of Skipton and the falls at Grassington.
