Douglas Diary Wednesday 27th April 2016 Day 8. It was a good thing we stopped when we did last night as very shortly after we moored, it started blowing a gale hurling hail stones at us. Anyway, we spent the evening well secured, dry and snug in my long kennel watching a movie (old tightwad had bought the day before for one pound in a charity shop in Middlewich). We sat in front of the log burning stove, listening to the wind howling outside as my kennel gently rocked! This morning it is a sunny and calm morning and I got him up in the usual fashion at 06:30, it had been daylight for nearly an hour already. On our walk we came across two little tents on the tow path (illegal) each one complete with a sleeping fishermen within, at least on our arrival they were sleeping. (See photo). They had thoughtfully left some breakfast out for me, maggots – I think. My observation…. perhaps they always get up grumpy, we walked on. Today we meander gently to Nantwich, a town we do like and just two hours cruise away, we will spend the best part of the day there. We arrived well in time for lunch – anyway for them, they had theirs, sitting at a quay side table in a very pleasant cafe at Nantwich Marina, me in my usual place underneath with just legs to look at. Next door, my long haired one was able to do some much needed washing, I got two biscuits from the kind lady in charge. After their lunch I took them for a long walk into town for some more provisioning. This is in preparation for our new crew arrivals tomorrow. I have walked a long way I think I must rest now.
