Douglas Diary Wednesday 4th May 2016 (Day 15). Well I don’t want to bark too soon but it really does seem as though the winter weather might have gone away, at least for the time being. It is a beautiful morning, bright and sunny as indeed it should be and as it was 539 dog years ago this very day as my bearded one, who was there then, has pointed out to anyone who wanted to listen. We managed an interesting walk along the tow path this morning and I met many of my kind for a quick chat and I think my bearded one was looking for somewhere to paint later in the day. We are on our own now and first we are going to explore the lovely little town of Llangollen. Already we have heard the whistle and watched the little steam train puff its way up the valley, we saw this last evening when we returned exhausted from a walk to The Horseshoe Falls. They bought a trolley for my long kennel to help them with their provisioning that they seem to do a lot of and they appeared to have some difficulty maneuvering it at first, leaving a trail of small bits of shopping behind that had to be retrieved. I expect they will get used to it. Having bought this thing which they think they will find very useful they forgot it as they lugged their painting gear off for what seemed miles to a spot they wanted to paint. My picture today is of my long haired one painting and you will note I am very tired and having a siesta.

It all sounds exhausting but also exhilarating. You are in such a beautiful spot and wonderful to paint. I hope we get to see the results. Have patience with the long haired one and the bearded one, getting provisions in from a distance is challenging and tends to make one grumpy! much love, Barbie and Mike, xx
You must bring Mickey Jay up here to the Llangollen it is truly magnificent, scary tunnels and very scary aqueducts very narrow stretches where forward spotting is necessary shallow parts for bottom scraping but majestic scenery and incredible archeology how or even why they built it !! there was a cotton industry and they sing a lot in each June eisteddfod but in real terms this set up would cost billions today To think it nearly all went to neglect and ruin and would have had Chester not needed the water! We are so lucky the system was saved from those short sighted politicians, this is what my bearded one thinks, I don’t really have an opinion
