Douglas Diary Wednesday 30th September 2015
On my early morning perambulation, it was a lovely morning, we met a lady with five dogs all from the golden retriever tribe. They were of the same family and their owner takes them to shows, whatever that means. She was a little anxious about me, I don’t think she had ever met one of my ancient Spanish pedigree.
After I had taken my family for a walk around the grounds at Shrugborough Hall, which was closed and did not fully open until 11:00, they had a leisurely breakfast, I had some biscuits, we set off for Stone, about five hours away.
There were a few locks and therefore quite a lot of walking on the way which I much enjoyed but when we arrived at Stone, there was no room for my sixty foot long kennel and so we kept going.
My family then decided that we needed to visit a chap called Mr Doombar at his house called The Plume of Feathers at Barlaston, well, it was dark before we got there and the last half hour cruising in pitch black was quite exciting.
My bearded one was very skilful and he managed to moor right outside Mr Doombar’s house and of course we all went inside, I sat under the table as usual while they scoffed. They played a quiz game and came third!

So pleased to hear that you got into your overnight mooring safely,I don’t think we would have liked to cruise in the dark! Very scary. But it is busy on the cut right now, we think everyone is enjoying the last of the summer and making the most of the nice weather. Keep safe, xx
