Douglas Diary Monday 16th April 2018

I am back and I am so sorry I have not written for a long time, I am in Spain now, as I write, I am in CADIZ. Very briefly, I had a lovely time in England but the weather was rubbish for most of it and so we didn’t do a lot of travelling in my long kennel, hence my silence. We did however do a lot of travelling in my short kennel and visited all five branches of my family. Lots of my kind too. This kept me so so busy.

On the way back to Spain our giant kennel was cancelled as it was too rough at sea with 10 metre waves and we were sent to northern France instead and my bearded one had to drive for over 20 hours to get home. This meant an extra night on the way back, somewhere in France which I enjoyed in fact I enjoyed the journey really as I love my short kennel and I like travelling. Lots of interesting new smells.

It was lovely to get home to MOCLINEJO although it took a day or two for the weather to settle down there too. I had a hair cut ready for the summer. I think I look quite cute my long haired one thinks I look like a meerkat! My bearded one’s sister Linda and hubby Charles came to visit. This is why we are here with them, in Cadiz!

The journey here was fun (we were all in my short kennel) and we made a brief diversion from our journey  to a most interesting place called El Palmar de Troya, a small otherwise non-descript village just south east of Seville. This is the HQ of the Palmarian Catholic Church. Their Pope resides (currently since 2016 named Pope Peter 111) and has a rather large bizarre Cathedral here, see photo, all very odd, too odd to describe here suffice to say they consider themselves the real Catholics and there have been 4 Popes since 1978. One dropped out to get married but do look it up or read Dan Brown’s latest book called Origins!

In Cadiz we had a lovely hotel called El Cortez, right in the old town centre. This is dog friendly – hmm up to 5 kg it turned out! As it happens, I am 25 kg, I was prepared to say, if challenged, that I had just eaten a big lunch but, in the event, I crept in under the radar!

We walked for miles exploring and I shared a fish supper with them. We were all very tired and we were all in our beds by 10:00 pm. I slept in their wardrobe. See photo and the bed that the hotel kindly left for me, it looks larger than it really is.
