We were disappointed with the Angel pub’ last night, not dog friendly and not particularly human friendly either my bearded one said and so we had a cozy evening at our riverside mooring in front of our new tele and they had a bottle of wine. This morning the sun was shining and we set off to leave Stourport for Kidderminster after breakfast. This is only about ten miles and perhaps half a dozen locks. A bit of a shock after our last week or so on the rivers, we were faced with four locks immediately to do ourselves to get back off the river and onto the system. We were very pleased to see two CAR (Canal and River Trust) volunteers who were on hand to help. These locks were two sets of staircase, that is the top lock in each case empties into the bottom lock. A clever water conservation method. We cruised towards Kidderminster and it was very pretty I sat on the back deck helping my bearded one and keeping an eye on the ducks then, just as we approached a very tall viaduct we heard this whistle and just like in The Railway Children – a steam locomotive trundled by above and us and the driver waved, I raised a paw in return. Unfortunately, my bearded one was not quick enough to get a photo to show you. I had some long walks today and I am really tired. Love Douglas

Hello Douglas –
I don’t know how you cope with all the walking you do. I’m exhausted after a few hours out at night (and I’m not going to tell you what I do then . . . )
Anyway, I have had some good sleeps recently, including today when I crept into the spare room when Mummy wasn’t looking and curled up under a blanket on the bed – bliss.
It was Daddy’s birthday last week and I gave him a card with a painting of me on it which Mummy had found for me. He was pleased with it although I didn’t get any extra treats as I was hoping They just went out for the evening instead. When they came back, they were walking rather unsteadily and Daddy soon fell asleep in his chair – something to do with a free bottle of prosecco (whatever that is).
Look forward to hearing more of your adventures – I must just pop out into the garden and see if Fockus is about, (Mummy feeds him every evening, which Daddy gets annoyed about.)
Love and scratches
Millie
Dear. Millie They are apparently and evidentially really very very sorry they missed your Daddy’s birthday something to do with a cock up on the digital medium transponder front or something like that I heard him muttering and being in a ditch in the wilds of nowhere in a tin tube, I have no idea what the fuss is about. Anyway, I am instructed to ask if your folks are free on Wedneday 27th as my carers will be in their house in Eastbourne by then and would like to share some eats and imbibes. If not please advise
Love Douglas.
