Well, my New Year’s resolution lasted rather less than 24 hours, my readers will note that in my last entries I had resolved to write regularly even when not on my official holiday duty of record keeping. So much for that!
I am writing to you now as something is afoot and I think I am about to be off on my holiday travels again,
My long haired pet bathed (I think that’s what they call it) me this morning! This is something that happens in a special room in our house that they appear to use every day, It is wet in there and I am only put in there about once every month or so thank Dog God and it is quite an experience I can tell you. Water cascades down from the ceiling sometimes it is too hot and sometimes too cold, I don’t like getting wet but I get soaked and soaped anyway – not fun. Then I get put outside and my bearded pet gives me a rub down with a towel – fun. Then I escape and roll on the ground and up against any old wall and get all dusty again – fun. Then I get a biscuit – fun and then they lose interest in me again.
My long haired pet is busy filling boxes which I remember will all be loaded soon into my short kennel (aka Betty the Yeti or Roda the Skoda) where I will spend much of the next few days. This part of my holiday is called a journey apparently and I sleep a lot but I will let you know what is happening.
My photo today is me after my bath all shiny.

Hi Douglas, great to hear from you again. looking forward to seeing you and your pets x
Me too xxx
Hi Douglas, I don’t think I will be seeing you when you come over, long story, but my pets are looking forward to meeting your pets, they tell me x
Dear Max, yes I have heard about your out of bounds situation. Basically you must resist the urge. What you were doing was quite natural in young fellas but it is not very polite to attempt this without permission. Anyway, all that is water under the bridge as I understand it but I don’t suppose you see it that way – even as a one eyed randypug but life will get easier, believe me.
Love Douglas xx
You can blame our brother for the reason we won’t be seeing you when you come over. He was a bit too randy at Hawkhurst and took a fancy to static table legs as well as two legged pets’ legs (of the long haired pursuasion). Our pets tell us that this won’t happen again as he has had two vital organs removed. In fact, he lost a third one of a similar shape to the other two, his right eye. We’ll tell him to get his profile pic updated. x
Well Bumble & Trooper thank you for the heads up on young Max. This is the trouble with youngsters, they can be over zealous or if you prefer enthusiastic in this department. It is only natural behaviour but if you only have one eye you have to be opportunistic or take advantage as and when you see it and of course being mono-eyed this is at best half the time. I suppose he had difficulty in distinguishing the difference between chair legs, human legs, any legs. Things should calm down and get easier in the future, take it from me I had the op. ten years ago I hardly bother these days.

Yay ! You’re on the move again. It’s worth it for the biscuit we find.
