It is still overcast, warm and dry although rain is possible tonight. Our plan is to cruise to the market town of Leek. This is at the end of a short branch off the Caldon. It is a delightfully quiet and unspoiled stretch of waterway with few signs of human habitation.
The journey is slow and all the better for it. The canal is narrow and shallow. My bearded one stopped my kennel at Bridge number 7. Principally to remove some weed from my propeller, an expected occurrence.
It was such a lovely spot they had happened upon that he and my long haired one decided that first they would have some lunch (not a meal I have) then they would get their paints out! I was happy about this and was keen to watch. See my photo today.
Micky Jay was behind us as we had both stopped for water a little earlier and we had left first. We were anyway in effect waiting for them to catch up and join us. Nothing appeared to arrive.
They were busy painting I was not bored, I wandered about quite a bit checking out smells and the possibility of squirrels to no avail and met lots of my kind from various tribes that were out walking their humans which was nice.
We eventually received a message from Micky Jay to say that they had arrived at Leek. This amazed my bearded one as he had not noticed them pass us. Apparently, they sneaked past as my humans were having lunch and now had established themselves at a mooring at the end of this arm to Leek.
My bearded one and long haired one quickly finished their painting as Barbie announced that she had baked a cake and we were all invited to tea. Our final journey to Leek was about half an hour.
The cake was amazing apparently, I did not get any and I notice from one of my comments received yesterday, that the humans on Micky Jay have also eaten all their Rich Tea Biscuits. We will have to see about this.
After tea, most of the humans went into town. I decided to have a sleep since I had been on my feet all day. I remember that this is about half an hour’s walk from the end of the canal. I will be doing it tomorrow for sure. They have gone to check out the place, I think we are going to spend some time in Leek to buy some more biscuits.
