Douglas Diary Spring Holidays
Day 14
Fazeley to Fradley
The sun actually woke me up again this morning but it didn’t wake my bearded one, I had to do that, the tongue trick worked a treat. Whenever I have to do this he first pretends to be asleep then if I persist, he pretends to be annoyed; but I know he isn’t really, he loves me.
Anyway it was cloudy by the time he had made the tea for my long haired one, coffee for himself and had a shower ugh! I have one of those rarely but he seems to like it and has one every day! Then we went for his walk at last.
We discovered a beautiful trail through the woods and I very nearly caught a rabbit. The birds were singing and then we saw a notice that it was a RSPB reserve and I had to put him on the lead. He didn’t mind that. Back at my long kennel I got a handful of biscuits.
We set off at a leisurely time about 10:00 and were heading back to our marina today but it just happened that we arrived at The Swan at Fradley Junction at 14:15. Now my pets know that the lunch orders stop at 14:20 and The Swan at Fradley Junction produce the best fish and chips ever.
A no brainer my bearded one said, whatever that means as he started to moor my long kennel. Me and my long haired one disembarked and walked quickly ahead to order lunch – “a pint of Doom Bar” was a shouted addition from the poop deck as we hurried off, we were anxious not to be too late as the mooring process can take a few vital minutes.
The order was successful and the fish and chips were excellent as usual and did not disappoint apparently, It did disappoint me as I got nothing as usual. I was however very interested to meet Molly. She is a guide dog of the Labrador tribe, she is black and was with her owner pet who was partially sighted (She and her husband avid long kennel operators) they were an interesting couple and all the pets chatted until it was too late to move my long kennel and so we stayed for the night.
My photo is my rather beautiful profile, The Swan, one of our favourite places, it is very dog and human friendly is in the background.
Love Douglas x
Now that is looking very familiar. I can taste and smell the delicious fish and see the pictures of the early canal boats and passengers. Douglas…no fish for you.
I love fish, I love chips, I love food, I love you too
