Spring Holiday – Day 15

Douglas Diary Spring Holidays

Day 15

Fradley Junction to King’s Bromley

Another beautiful dawn greeted me, the sun streaming in through my porthole made my continued sleep difficult ( I have no curtain). It really was dawn, about 06:00 and so I got up and tried my luck with the licking the ear bit, that failed, it was clearly too early and so for the first time in my life, I climbed onto their bed to do the full facial. They were as surprised as I was, I do not know what came over me I have never done that before. Anyway, my pets were very kind and allowed me to stay there with them until my bearded one got up. He is usually the first of my pets to get out of bed as he is the tea boy as well as the captain, and he needs his walk!

I must tell you a bit about my new friend Molly ( see yesterday). What a tough life she has, she is on duty all the time that she wears her special florescent harness. She is only off the lead twice a week for a good run. She is two years old, black from the Labrador tribe and she has been in training for the last year. She is very clever.

After our morning walk and breakfast we set off for the last couple of hours of our cruise.

Today we really needed to get back to King’s Bromley as we had all been invited out to lunch with friends. There was no hurry and we took it very gently, there were only three easy locks and less than three miles to go.

It was really beautiful gently gliding through the nearby woods on our last stretch of the Trent and Mersey ‘spectacular with the rhododendron bushes in full bloom to arrive at our home marina in King’s Bromley

My picture today is my long kennel at lock number 20 the last lock of our Spring Holidays cruise but I still have more to tell you, I will write again tomorrow.

Love Douglas xx

We have a group called “indoor campfire singers.” of which a number of people are blind. Maureen’s service dog Elvis was a black lab. When one of the guitarists would go into a solo, Elvis would go into his own solo tearing the roof off the place and always ended as the guitarist finished his solo right on Q. Elvis had talent.
