We are off! At least there seemed to be all that sort of activity early this morning. My long kennel has been prepared as I remember from previous adventures. My pets have been so busy scurrying around being terribly busy and I have been helping. My long haired one has been emptying boxes and filling cupboards. My bearded one has had his head down the engine room, tinkering, whatever that means.
We all went provisioning last night and I noticed that at least twelve tins of my most favourite was loaded aboard, and at least twelve bottles of their most favourite as well, that bodes well.
I took my bearded one for his early walk, the weather was perfect and then at exactly 10:00 hrs we slipped away from our moorings at King’s Bromley and headed south. Our destination as far as I know unknown.
It really was a lovely day and we had a delightful cruise for almost six hours in perfect summer weather. We moored up in Tamworth for the night at 16:00. Early but it was a rather long day for me and my bearded one without a break with all that responsibility at the helm, on the poop deck! See my photo today. I had also helped my long haired one with five locks – exhausting!
I met lots of my kind but there was a remarkable lack of holiday traffic that surprised us. We anticipate a bit more next week as half term and bank holidays approach. I now know we are going to do what is known as the Warwickshire Ring, it takes about 50 hours of cruising around Warwickshire and officially starts from here and of course, as you know it is my job to tell you about it so there will be more excitement tomorrow.
