Douglas Diary Summer Hols -Endon to Etruria
Well it is just like yesterday morning with that drizzle but I braved it and took my bearded one and Jim out for their early morning walk. We walked to Mr Toby’s house – his surname is Carvery by the way, where they had dinner last night and where Jim had left his short kennel overnight. We will be using that today to help transport some provisioning thanks to Jim before he leaves us to go back up north.
Jim departed and we departed in the opposite direction, heading for Etruria where we stopped a week or so ago. This is where we will overnight and attend to one or two Long kennel duties, our journey is about ten miles, Jim’ s will be nearly 200 miles but interestingly the journey times will not be much different.
It was really very pleasant cruising to Etruria (there is a park there) the sun was making headway, plenty of blue sky it was dry and there was no wind. There was plenty of exercise for me as I had to run between batches of locks eight in total today. At bridge 9 on the Caldon, my long haired one wanted to stop and visit Emma Bridgewater and she bought a jug and two mugs to match ones she already has.
We arrived at Etruria it was a lovely evening and we played a game of football. I won. My photo today – spot the ball and my long haired one and me opening one of the lift bridges.
Dinner tonight is onboard my long kennel, we have invited Micky Jay. This is a very nice mooring – I like it, lots of grass and trees that I know have a few squirrel houses but have yet to spot one.
Love Douglas x
Hi Douglas –
Sorry you’ve had rain – lovely sun in Eastbourne – and a strange mist the other evening (not that it affected me at all). But I’m glad you won the football game. By the looks of it your bearded one needs to get in some training . . .
Love from fox who is still appearing every evening.
And scratches from me –
Millie
