Happy Birthday to me! Today it is my birthday, I am 63 dog years old. Guess what? No presents as yet and it is already midday. They have been very nice to me I shared their pancakes, bacon and scrambled egg breakfast and then I took them for a very long walk. Actually this was better described as a mud slide for nearly two hours. I loved every squelchy minute of it and got absolutely covered from head to toe. I was with my friend Basil and another friend called Kula, we had so much fun. When we got back to Basil’s house we all had to be hosed down, I have to say, I quite enjoy the rub down bit with the towel.
Now as I was in Spain the last time I wrote, and have been so busy. I will give you a very quick catchup. It was a leisurely get up and departure from Montermosa Hotel as we had only about three hours drive time to get to Santander and we had about five hours in which to do it.
When we arrived in Santander we went to a big park called Magdalena where there was a palace. This didn’t interest me at all as I was not allowed inside but I was interested in the penguins and seals. There was a sort of aquatic park and we did a lot of walking. While we were admiring the seals (see photo) we saw our huge kennel (aka Baie de Seine) coming over the horizon which meant it was time for us to leave the park and go to the Port. We arrived at the same time as this huge kennel docked and was waiting for us. I had to wear a muzzle to enter! I hate that, between car and cabin. I actually wore it round my neck but nobody noticed. We sailed away from Santander on time. Nothing of great excitement happened, didn’t see any whales or squirrels, I spent most of the time in our cabin which I shared with my grown-ups and every few hours I took my bearded one for a short walk out on deck (see photo) I was looking for trees but of course there were none. It was twenty eight hours later when we arrived at Portsmouth.
It was late when we left this huge kennel for a drive in the short kennel to see my friend Basil who lives in Hawkhurst in Kent there with my bearded one’s daughter and family. My bearded ones GPS told him to drive onto the M3 and we would be there in an hour and forty minutes. Just to be brief, it took nearly four hours. Road closures. Just a reminder that driving in UK is not so much fun. It was nearly one o’clock in the morning when we arrived – and then we were locked out!
