Douglas Diary Summer Holidays 2018
Tamworth Ventura Shopping Centre.
One of life’s great mysteries, it seems to me, and in my personal view, (which is generally from under a coffee table) is the time it takes a human, specifically my long haired one, to purchase a pair of knickers in Marks & Spencer’s? She was reported missing several hours ago or so it seems. Boy and dog shopping is a much simpler process. As I write, I am sitting in the sunshine in a huge shopping centre called Ventura Park (not much of a park – there are no trees or grass) in Tamworth, quite near where we keep my long kennel, I am with my bearded one having nothing of course while he has a coffee and bun outside a Costalot Coffee Bar. We are waiting…….
“A 3 for 2” whatever that means was the joyous greeting we received on her eventual return.
Tonight we have some friends coming to supper in my long kennel. They live in Lichfield quite nearby. The last time I went to their house, several human years ago now, when I was quite young, I still remember their garden. There were lots and lots of pretty plant pots and each one appeared to contain a generous helping of bone meal. Naturally, I assumed this was for me and it was delicious, I cleaned up and ate the lot. I recall there were some consequences!
On my evening walk I met a very small relative. She was only 10 human weeks young, on one of her first outings I believe. She comes from the very noble tribe of Welsh Border Collies, my Mum was one of them. I of course am proud to be recognised now as a Bearded Collie because my Dad was hairy and I take after him. I have an elegant beard like my human bearded one. Sometimes it contains a little food. People think we too are related. I attach a picture of me to remind you of how very handsome we are.
