Douglas Diary Summer Holidays 2018
Another day in Milton Keynes
Do you know there are 108 miles of pathways that I can use without crossing a single road in Milton Keynes? Also, apart from some concrete cows for which this town is famous, and hundreds of roundabouts there are over two and a half million trees that were planted to make this a special place for dogs. Just thought you would like to know.
Today it is as though summer has arrived, it is warm and sunny and the plan is that I am going to help my bearded one paint the roof of my long kennel. There is zero chance of rain according to the forecast and this is an opportunity not to be missed in this part of the world.
First we have to go into town to the shops. Almost a repeat performance of yesterday’s walk into town that I said I would report on.
Well first yesterday, we walked for the fifteen minutes across the park to the very huge Central shopping centre. Here my long haired one wanted to do some girlie shops and my bearded one and I didn’t and so we agreed to meet later at entrance no 15 at John Lewis after 45 minutes! My bearded one and I walked for miles looking for a mobile phone shop inside this vast Centre to sort out a communication problem. This took all of the 45 minutes. Unfortunately the technical matter with a communicator was the very reason we were unable to communicate our delay to my long haired one. Another 45 minutes later than scheduled at door 15 they couldn’t find each other until cctv cameras were employed to locate me and my bearded one. My long haired one had been asked if he (my bearded one) was vulnerable! (She’s said yes!) thus we were spotted and it was then that I was told I was not allowed in the Centre where I had just spent the last hour anyway, this because I wasn’t a guide dog! On today’s visit I did not go into the Centre and they did not lose each other and I got a ride in a taxi.
My beaded one worked all day painting my long kennel while I supervised and my photo shows how smart the roof looks. I think there is more to come.
